Studying to be a nutritional counselor – What you need to know

At New Eden, one of the offered programs is the nutritional counselor training program to certify the student in helping the general public to be orientated in nutrition and natural health issues. To be enrolled, it is required for the student to have a high school diploma or a GED certificate. In most cases, the maximum time to complete this curriculum will be of 15 months. Some of the courses include, but are not limited to: Children’s nutrition, anatomy, chemistry and its relation with nutrition, physiology and how to start a business in practicing natural health. The award will be in form of a diploma, or certificate, in nutritional counselor training.

As usual, as is always included are test materials, study guides, and mentorship. Some certain eBooks, however, and textbooks, will not be included. Nevertheless, the student is able to find these books at libraries, purchase them from bookstores, and also health food stores, and even purchase them at discounted prices from certain bookstores. Some additional courses that are recommended are the following: Credit in clinical nutrition, functional medicine and integrative medicine parts I and II, and credit in nutrition of holistic nature. Within the nutritional counselor training curriculum, when the student achieves 60 hours total in credits, a certificate of “Associates in Nutritional Counseling”will be gifted to the student.

The total amount for this program is 35 credits, and tuition is placed at 1750.00, equal to 50.00 per each credit hour. Now, an interesting fact about nutritional counseling is that the job market is expected to exceed over 65,000 positions by the year of 2018, as declared by the bureau of Labor Statistics.
