Having the right equipment to complete the various tasks on a packaging line is always important. Equipment that is not reliable that is constantly breaking down, or equipment that can’t match the pace of the rest of the system is going to be problematic.

For any company, investing in quality components for each task on the packaging line will be an investment in uptime and productivity. This goes from the case erector at the front of the line through to the pallet loader that is located as one the last steps in preparing a shipment.

Semi-Automatic to Automatic

Depending on the specific needs of the system, it may be important to consider a semi-automatic or an automatic system. The semi-automatic pallet loader will require an operator to start the wrapping process while the automatic works independently of any need for operator manual tasks to start the wrap.

The loader itself works automatically; it is the application of the stretch wrap that will be automatic or semi-automatic. As these two are often seen as operating in concert, it is essential to ensure that all components of the system can integrate.

Movement and Capacity

The pallet loader should be able to move freely to allow for the correct positioning of the pallet and the movement from the loader through to the wrapper on the conveyor system. Top designs have lateral as well as up and back movement that is smooth and even for effective movement of the palleted stock without any possible risk to the cartons.

Always consider the size and capacity of the loader when making a purchase. This is particularly important if various types of products are palletized using the same packaging system. Selecting a model of loader that has the capacity to meet the line needs now and in the future, will be essential to avoid having to upgrade.
