This is a term used to describe conditions that involve damage to your peripheral nerves. If you suffer from unexplained weakness, numbness or pain in your hands and feet, then you might have neuropathy. The conditions are often irreversible. What are the symptoms?

Nerve tests: what are they?
If your doctor suspects that you might have neuropathy, then your physician might recommend that you undergo nerve tests. These are done to diagnose peripheral neuropathy as well as to identify underlying reasons for the condition, the NHS says. Examples of these tests include a nerve conduction velocity study and an electromyography.
NVC and EMG
The NCV test is done to gain information about any abnormalities in your nerves. It’s often conducted at the same time as an electromyography to check for both nerve as well as muscle disorders. The EMG test can detect abnormal electrical activity in your muscles that could indicate diseases or conditions.
How long will they take?
The tests can last for as long as twenty to ninety minutes, depending on whether you’re just undergoing the NCV or you’re undergoing it along with an EMG. You won’t have to worry about changing your diet or fasting before the procedure. You can also eat or drive or even exercise after the tests.
How will I prepare for the tests?
