There are various cell culture processes and procedures that can depend on things like the application and cell type. It is important to remember that, should the cells not be handled properly each step of the way, the characteristics of the cell can change.

When it comes to cell culture processing, you need to know that each step is being treated with the utmost care and precaution to produce the best possible cell culture.

Seeding and Observation

There are various steps involved in the preparation of a cell culture. The thawing process is a crucial one, as is cell seeding. To get the proper seed density, you need to calculate the amount of fresh medium that is required. This is based on the measured cell numbers before diluting the cell suspension.

From there, the cell culture processing moves into observation. This includes checking that the cells are viable and that they are evenly distributed within the vessel, and looking for the presence of foreign objects is crucial.

Medium Exchange

Though there are more steps following medium exchange, it is one of the most important parts of cell culture processing. Observation of the cells is necessary prior to the medium change and can prevent the cells from potentially dying out.

Any fresh medium should be pre-warmed so as to not expose the cells to any sudden changes. After the medium has been changed, do another observation to check for signs of damage, using a microscope to check the culture.
