While the training programs that teachers have to go through certainly do provide them with the tools they need to tackle a modern classroom, these ideas do eventually wear thin. Some educators in the state of Ohio have found that by looking through the best classroom management books they can find, they can get fresh concepts to use in the classroom that they wouldn’t otherwise have ever been able to think up.

The most surprising thing about this is the fact that the best classroom management books today aren’t the same stuffy manuals used to teach college teacher training courses. In fact, most of them aren’t even professional texts published by a mainstream education market publisher. Rather, they’re books written by teachers for other teachers. These texts contain stories and concepts that actually came from a classroom rather than a focus group.

As a result, it’s much easier for Ohio teachers to implement these with their own students. For that matter, some of these books might actually be more useful to those that are now teaching a distance education course. Few college-educated professionals were actually trained to teach school online. However, they’re now finding the mental tools to do so in a couple of books that are written by teachers who recently found themselves in the same boat.

A few simple classroom hacks might actually make it easier for these teachers to do their job effectively.
