Modern industries utilize a variety of lubricants. These ensure the industrial machine continues to operate optimally. However, no lubricant is ideal. In its unadulterated form, it may not be capable of addressing all the requirements demanded from it. Fortunately, chemistry has a means of addressing any shortcomings. Researchers have created and continue to produce industrial lubricant additives capable of tackling the problems effectively and efficiently.

Applications

Industrial lubricant additives are used in a variety of fluids, grease, oils and lubricants found in industry. Among them are:

The base oil and the additives intend to exclude moisture and reduce such elements as binding, friction and wear. To perform these tasks, it may contain extreme pressure additives such as sulfur, phosphorous or chlorinated compounds. These reactive agents form a film, therefore preventing adhering to the workpiece surface or seizure of the machinery during high-pressure applications.

Depending upon the demands of the work, workpiece and environment as well as the desired results, either low or non-foaming additives may be blended into the base oil. This prevents entrained air, thereby foiling pump damage while retaining the stiffness and cooling property of the base oil.

They must be formulated to meet the needs and requirements of each machine in the shop; every individual application; and every workplace environment.
