The EAC, or Eurasian Conformity mark, is a mark of compliance that is required if you want to sell products to countries in the Eurasian Customs Union. Besides Russia, this union includes several large markets such as Kazakhstan, and important developing countries such as Armenia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan. Expanding into the Eurasian region is only possible with EAC compliance.
Here is a very basic guide on how to apply for this important certification.
Find a Representative
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has strict regulations on who can even apply for EAC compliance. Companies must already have a registered office in the EAEU. If you do not have an office registered in one of the states in this region (and if it is your first time applying for certification, you probably won’t), the best course of action is to appoint a local company as your representative to apply for certification on your behalf.
Preparing a Case
Once you find a representative and an agency of a member state where you will send your application, your company will prepare an application or case. This consists of selecting the right scheme, finding the right documents, and selecting samples that will go to the agency for examination.
Controls
The process of getting EAC compliance includes various controls, including product testing, audits, and inspections. Make sure that you follow all of the steps.
Of course, this is a very simplified view of the compliance process. Make sure that you find the right partners and do plenty of research to ensure your success when applying.
