Your ability to grow your business is dependent, in part, on your ability to grow your fleet of trucks. Without adding trucks, it is nearly impossible to service more customers, which is critical if you want to increase revenue and profits. Here are some smart ways to go about growing your fleet of trucks.

1. Be sure the business supports it. Before you buy a new truck, be certain you can add the business to support it, at least in part, right away. It’s ok to have a little room for growth after purchase, but you should be able to get the truck on the road from the beginning.
2. Be ready to jump on a good deal. Keep an eye out for a good deal on International truck models that you stock in your fleet. When one comes available at a great price, be prepared to act. Let your truck dealer know you’re in the market, so he can inform you when something you could use is available.
3. Be ready to staff. Having a new truck ready to go is no help if you have no one to drive it. At the same time, you don’t need workers on your payroll who don’t bring in revenue. Have your list of potential new hires ready so you can make an offer as soon as you find a truck.
4. Consider new and used. Even if it has always been your practice to buy your International truck models new, consider used trucks, as well. These will cost you less on the whole, and have lower monthly payments. This means you can grow your business with a lower cost, which can help you justify the fleet addition a little sooner. However, buying a new truck will mean a longer life before replacement.
5. Keep the growth well managed. Don’t grow your fleet faster than your business can handle. Many companies find that fast growth stretches resources, causing service to suffer. In the long run, this is bad for business, because it may cause you to lose long-term customers. The cost of acquisition of new customers is always high, so you must be prepared to keep your business humming even while you grow. It’s much better to add one new truck to your fleet at a time than to risk reduction in business because of growing pains.

With these ideas in mind, you should be well on your way to growing your fleet of International truck models in Texas and making your business an even larger success than it is today.
