The pulley is one of humanity’s first marvels of engineering. Through the wheel and a rope and basic physics, we figured out millennia ago how to make it much, much easier to lift extremely heavy objects without breaking our own backs.

Today, however, a functional pulley in an industrial setting is a little more complex than wood and twine put together to heft some stone. A take up pulley removes slack in long segments of a conveyor belt, providing tension alongside a bend pulley underneath the belt. The snub pulley aids the drive pulley by increasing the amount of belt wrapping around the drive pulley, thus improving possible traction.
