Medical and nutritional experts agree that people in America consume too much sugar. In fact, in 2010 it was recommended by the Dietary Guidelines that everyone cut back on this sweet substance. When you reduce the amount of sugar you consume each day, you can have more energy, reduce your weight and maintain a healthy weight with ease. Keep in mind, reducing your sugar intake doesn’t mean you forego any delicious treats. There are a number of tasty, sugar-free options, such as no sugar fruit cake.

Reduce Instances of Sugar “Crashes”

Most people refer to the effect after eating excessive amounts of sugar as a “crash.” The scientific name is reactive hypoglycemia. It causes symptoms such as anxiety, hunger, sleepiness and a number of other symptoms. The best way to avoid this is by avoiding eating sugary foods, especially if you haven’t eaten anything else. Also, try to eat smaller meals more often. A great afternoon snack to try is no sugar fruit cake.

Achieve a Healthier Weight

You know by now that too much sugar can lead to obvious and significant weight gain. Most treats that are full of sugar are also high in calories and fat, while being low in important nutrients, such as fiber. Some studies have even shown that too much sugar and refined carbohydrates can contribute to metabolic syndrome, which is a precursor to diabetes and obesity.

Lower Triglycerides

If you eat too much sugar in a day, then it may raise the fats, or triglycerides in your blood stream. If this is something that happens often, then it may increase your risk of heart disease. If you have to have something sweet, but want to forego the sugar, consider no sugar fruit cake or other low sugar alternatives.

As you can see, there are quite a few health benefits offered by reducing the amount of sugar you consume. Be sure to keep this in mind if you want to be healthier and feel better.
