How does an SG iron foundry work?

SG iron foundry in India are well known for making this specific type of iron. Making ferritic spheroidal graphite iron involves charging an electric furnace with steel scrap and graphite. The graphite weight should be about 3% of the weight of the scrap.
The furnace melts the steel scrap and graphite with the electric power on. When the melt reaches a temperature not exceeding 1400° C, the worker turns off the furnace and deslagges the melt. Next, add enough ferrosilicon to achieve the desired silicon content of the melt.
Similarly, add enough graphite to raise the melt’s carbon content to the required level. The melt is then superheated to a temperature between 1454° and 1537° C and deslagged once more. Finally, the foundry worker corrects the metal analysis and then inoculates the metal out of the furnace.
