There are many moving companies; it can reach the point where you feel overwhelmed; where is the best place to start when you are looking for local moving companies in Spokane WA? Many people have had great experiences with moving, unfortunately just as many have had less than stellar luck when making a move. There are a few things to consider before you agree to hire any company.

Research: It is not difficult to research the track records of moving companies by looking into their history. In many cases there are forums online where pat customers can post their experiences. You need to make it your business to research a good number of companies and make sure you eliminate the rogues from your list of possible movers.

Questions: Once you have made a list of perhaps eight or ten possible companies, call each one and ask what you consider to be pertinent questions. Local moving companies often price their services different than long haul movers; find out for example if the company charges an hourly rate or a flat fee. You may wish to go with flat fee charges as it tends to speed things up.

Study their estimates: Estimates can be a bit confusing to those who rarely use a moving service. Remember that the moving company can provide you with a non-binding estimate which means the prices can go up or a binding estimate that is fixed in accordance with the services that will be provided.

Extra fees: When you ask for estimates tell the company rep that you do not want any surprises at the other end. In many cases there are additional fees such as insurance that are not mentioned up front, these extras can add considerably to the cost.

Any complaints: Most movers actually are very good, they handle your possessions with care and they are quite courteous to you during the time you are in the house together. Even the most careful movers can inadvertently damage a piece of furniture or drop a box marked fragile. Check around, perhaps call the local Better Business Bureau and see if the company has any open complaints lodged against them or whether complaints are settled quickly.
