Home owners rely on their heating and air conditioning systems to keep them warm during the cold winter months, and cool and comfortable in the summer time. This is why it is so important to make sure that these systems receive the proper maintenance. When systems are inspected twice annually, once at the beginning of the spring and again just before the onset of winter, home owners will be aware if there are any issues that need to be taken care of. An HVAC technician can do the inspection, and offer advice on how to keep the system running effectively until the next inspection.

When a furnace isn’t heating in the winter or cooling in the summer, there is something wrong. It could be something simple that the home owner can take care of themselves, or something that requires professional furnace repair. Some of the signs that an HVAC system needs repair include:

     *     Noise -; If the furnace is making a lot of noise, it is a sign that there is definitely something wrong. It could mean that there is a loose belt. It could also be an ignition problem, or something wrong with another mechanical component.

     *    Thermostat isn’t Working -; There are a few reasons why the thermostat may not be working, including a fault in the actual thermostat, leaky ducts, or the pilot light. All require the services of an HVAC technician.

     *    High Electricity Bills -; If electricity bills are higher than usual, the furnace is not running efficiently. Call in a technician to do an inspection to diagnose and repair the problem.

     *    Yellow Pilot Light -; The pilot light should be blue. If there is a yellow flame, there is a problem. This problem could be something as serious as the production of carbon dioxide.

     *    Cold Temperatures in the Home -; If there are some rooms that are always cold, it could be that the furnace isn’t able to heat the entire home, and repair or replacement will be needed.
