Need to stash away some perishable goods? Don’t want to use local storage because you’ll have to travel there to get your stuff, and you can’t keep an eye on it? What you need is a portable container that comes to you and stays where you want it until you don’t need it any more. There are a few different types of portable storage you can choose. Pick which one fits your needs the best.

Shanties

Shanties are the most basic option. They are usually wood or metal buildings with three sides and roof. One side is completely open. Shanties are best used for items that you just want to keep covered from natural elements, such as rain or snow. The weather can still affect the items inside a shanty, though, so never put perishable ones inside. They are also open to theft. Use a shanty if you aren’t worried about your items being stole and they will survive changes in the weather. One common way people use shanties is to store tools.

Containers

Containers are much larger than shanties. They are metal with all four walls, ceiling, and floor. They have a door with a heavy duty locking system to protect anything you put inside. Containers come in different sizes depending on how much you need to store or how large an object is that you want to store. The company you rent or purchase the container from will bring it to you and leave it for your use. Fill it up with almost anything that doesn’t need to be controlled by temperature. These containers will become hot or cold depending on the temperature outside as the metal will absorb heat and cold. Use these containers as general storage if you don’t have a shed of your own.

Temperature Controlled Containers

Some items need to be kept at a certain temperature or certain humidity level. Some items include paper items that you want to keep in pristine condition or refrigerated items such as bulk meats. Choose a container that keeps everything inside below freezing when you need to store foods. Choose a container that regulates humidity and uses air conditioning for paper items. Just like other containers, temperature controlled containers are brought to you and left for as long as you need them.  Need to stash away some perishable goods? Now you know exactly which type of container you need to keep your items safe.
